Beginners Guitar Lessons, Scales - 4 Tips To Get The Most From

Author: Mike Hayes

Article:

Learning guitar scales can be frustrating and confusing for the beginning guitarist. Often the student simply doesn't know where to start.

How important are scales?
It appears that learning and understanding scales is vital to becoming a better guitarist, how many scales should I learn and which scales should I learn first?
Good questions, the truth is scales re important, they're like our musical alphabet. The thing to keep in mind is that you only need to know a few scales, guitarists often become obsessed with practicing scales and over their real purpose which is to make music.
Here's a list to help you choose what scales to practice and eliminate the confusion.

Tip 1 -- Select a style

With literally thousands of scales to learn the first thing to do is decide on which style of music you want to play. Certain scales are more applicable to particular types of music e.g., the minor pentatonic scale works well for rock, blues, metal music...mainly songs with power chords. The blues scale is used mainly for rock, blues, metal music while the major pentatonic scale is mostly used for country, pop, country rock ...generally songs with open chords. Of course, I'm generalizing here, you can use any scale you wish for any style of music, however some scales work better than others. The idea is to use the correct musical alphabet (scale) for the style of music you want to play.

Tip 2 -- start on the keynote

Simply running up and down a scale won't produce any meaningful music no matter how fast you play them. It won't communicate anything to the listener. The idea is to train our brain and fingers to make musical decisions, which note do you want to play next? Where is the note I'm hearing in my head is it higher or lower than the previous note? To get this brain -- fingers connection practice starting on the keynote of the scale and decide whether your next note is higher or lower than the keynote. The keynote is the first note of the scale, e.g., the keynote for the A minor pentatonic scale would be 'A".

Tip 3 -- record a background

Once you have decided on a scale to practice, record a background in the key you want to practice. The recording does not have to be elaborate, a simple acoustic guitar will work fine. Record the backing track for 5 to 10 minutes duration, this will give you plenty of time to practice and try out your ideas. A good idea is to try and play just one note (the keynote is an idea choice for this), practice all different types of rhythms, slides, bends etc., to see how creative you can be. Recording a backing track is very helpful as you will find that you react differently to certain chord textures, the same note will sound different when played against a variety of chords.

Tip 4 -- learn all keys

Guitarists should practice their favorite scale(s) in all keys, this is especially important when working with singers.

Each key has it's own personality, certain keys have a warm feeling, while others are bright. Try playing a "G" minor pentatonic scale over a recorded background in the key of "G", then, play a "B" minor pentatonic scale over a pre-recorded background in the key of "B".

Scales can "free your fingers and freeze your brain" the whole idea of scales is to help you play music. Think of music as a language, scales are our musical alphabet, knowing the alphabet is just the beginning, it's how we use the alphabet to communicate that's important.

These ideas will help you develop your own style and soon you will be transferring the music you are hearing in your head onto the guitar.

Learn Guitar Fast

Author: Alex Smith

Article:
I started to learn to play guitar at the age of 12. My dad
bought me a Squire Strat and i was off. I could play
powerchords, as well as guitar chords A, B, C, D, E, F and G
within a few weeks, and then started to learn songs i listened
too. There was a quick learning curve.

However, i hit a plateu when i tried to play solos..

So i searched the internet, and found this: Elmore Music

It has shown me how to move my fingers to the correct frets so i
can solo effectively, as well as giving me exercises to do in
order to play to your full potential.

You have my word; trust Chris Elmore - he is a great teacher and
great guitar player.

JOE sebelum ia naik panggung ?

sebelum naik panggung Joe biasanya melakukan sedikit

bertahun tahun" kata Joe terus terang.

Tab

h - hammer on
p - pull off
b - bend string up
r - lepas bend
/ - geser ke atas
\ - geser ke bawah
v - vibrato (kadang dituliskan ~)

Floyd Rose

Sekilas Tentang Floyd Rose
Tapi banyak orang kerap
menggunakannya karena brand inilah yang paling populer
dan banyak dijumpai.

Sejarah Mengenai Floyd rose :

Free piano sheet music

Author: Leslie Smith

Article:
Free sheet music guide has a great list of websites where piano players
and students can find free piano sheet music on the internet.

Unlike other "sheet music directories" out there you can quickly
and easily find the sheet music that you want without browsing a
lot of sites that are not that useful or of bad quality, so it
saves you a lot of time. There are a few catergories: classical,
pop/rock, christmas, various styles. That's enough for your
needs. These are the sites that you want to look first for free
sheet music. Most of the commercial music scores, however,
cannot be downloaded without paying, this is to protect the
copyright owners. Make sure the site you are downloading from is
a legal site.

Learning To Play Canon Rock on Guitars

Author: raki

Article:
It has not been easey learning href="http://learntoplaycanonrock.blogspot.com/">Canon Rock on
Guitars
. It's been months since I saw this piece and I fell
came to like it right away for the reason that it seemed like
like Canon Rock on guitar is something I can play with enough
practice.

After seeing it, I searched all of youtube for renditions by
various guitarist and there was a lot of them, and they mostly
covers the Jerry C version, this might be because all of them
used the same tab that has been floating online.

One particular redition that I really came to admire is Funtwo's
rendition of the Canon Rock and that's what I decided to learn.
There were parts in his rendition that are more to my taste. In
my search for the tabs for it Funtwo's Canon Rock version I also
bumped into discussions on which is better and which is easier
to learn. In my opinion, it really doesn't matter which one is
easier to learn, I am betting that both would really take some
serious will to master.

Oh, there is no tablature for Funtwo's version of Canon Rock, or
none that I manged to find, and even Jerry C's rendition has 5
different rendition for the Guitar pro program. But anyway I
decided to learn it by watching him and listening.

I will be posting my own transcription once I get about it and
the youtube video I took of me playing Canon Rock in clean tone
using my Epiphone Les Paul. I'm still about 3/4th's of the way
donw with Canon Rock on Guitar but learning it actually taught
me a lot of guitar techniques in the interim that I was able to
use to play other songs.

The sweeping parts of Canon Rock simply is a beast to tame! If
you get the sweeping parts down pat, other sweeping from other
songs becomes easier, like the Final Fantasy VII Boss battle
theme titled For Those who Fight Further (Still More Fighting)
comes to mind <- Which I'm learning as well.

I will be posting a link to my video in the next post and then
we'll start learning canon rock on guitars and isolate and
discuss the difficult parts.
